Program Location – Jabal Al-Lweibdeh, Amman
Our intensive Arabic courses are held at Badr Ad Din Zaza, 11190 Amman, the capital of Jordan, where participants can experience the richness of Jordanian culture and daily life. To further enhance your experience and provide deeper engagement and cultural understanding, we organize visits to Jordanian universities, factories, and with local families.
Our program is located in Jabal Al-Lweibdeh, one of the most important neighborhoods in Amman. This area is distinguished by its central location in the capital, approximately a 15-minute walk from downtown and west of the Abdali district, home to Abdali Boulevard, the largest modern market in Jordan.
Jabal Al-Lweibdeh attracts diverse groups of people, including Arabs and Westerners, who come to enjoy the neighborhood’s social life and cultural energy. It is considered the cultural and social center of Amman and is home to numerous art galleries and tourist bazaars. The area also offers many cafes and restaurants serving both local and international food.
Many foreigners who come to Jordan to work or study choose to live in Jabal Al-Lweibdeh, as they find it a peaceful and comfortable place that blends modern life with Jordanian culture and the history of the region. Every street and building in the neighborhood features murals with meaningful stories, and many of its streets are bustling with visitors who consider Al-Lweibdeh their favorite spot in Amman because it reflects the fragrance of the past and the charm of traditional Jordanian life.

Ammiyya Arabic (اللهجة العامية)
“Ammiyya” (اللهجة العامية) refers to colloquial or spoken Arabic, as opposed to “Fus-ha” or Classical Arabic, which is used in formal settings, literature, and media. Colloquial Arabic can vary significantly across different regions of the Arab world, with distinct dialects spoken in countries such as Egypt, Morocco, Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and others. The Ammiyya dialect is the same as Levantine or Shami Arabic.
When someone mentions “Ammiyya Arabic,” they are likely referring to the informal, everyday spoken Arabic used in casual conversations and daily interactions in Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon.
Ammiyya Arabic Programs Offered Year-round
Furthermore, at the Center, we offer our Intensive Ammiyya Arabic immersion classes year-round (spring, summer, fall, and winter). These Arabic language programs span from one week to three months at our base in Amman, Jordan. If you are seeking a short, intensive Arabic course, our programs will accommodate you perfectly.
A Program Tailored for You!
As one of our Arabic students, you are free to choose the time and level of study that best meet your needs, language ability, learning preferences, and any other preferences you may have. Naturally, an important decision is the specific Arabic dialect you want to learn. Furthermore, the Excellence Center offers many dialects: Modern Standard Arabic, Classical Arabic, Colloquial Jordanian Arabic, all Levantine (Shami) Arabic dialects, and Ammiya Arabic.
Our Intensive Ammiyya Arabic classes at the Excellence Center cater to individuals seeking to learn, practice, or enhance their conversational Arabic skills with native speakers. Participants experience daily life in Jordan, meet new people, travel around the country and the Middle East, and have a lot of fun in Amman. Typically, Ammiyya Arabic lessons are taught one-on-one or in small classes of two or three students, emphasizing efficient and student-focused language learning.
Moreover, each Arabic student can choose the dialect they wish to study. Additionally, the Center will provide all necessary books and learning materials. Participants can decide when they would like to start and end their Arabic programs. Most importantly, we are very flexible with starting dates and duration. You can join us here in Jordan for a period ranging from 1 week to 3 months.
Summer Ammiyya Arabic Programs
For students interested in studying through the summer in the city of Amman, the Excellence Center offers intensive Ammiyya Arabic programs that span from June to August. These courses are ideal for those with a summer break or any individuals looking to study on an extended visit.
Intensive and Non-Intensive Online Arabic Courses
In addition to the Ammiyya Arabic programs offered in Amman, the Center also offers intensive and non-intensive Arabic online programs, taught by qualified Arabic teachers and professors.

Arabic Immersion Programs
The Ammiyya Jordanian Arabic immersion programs combine a focus on language with full learning and engagement in culture and history. These courses are among the programs offered by the Excellence Center that provide international students with the opportunity to combine the study of the Arabic language with an immersion into Arabic daily life.
What’s more, we provide several immersive language programs here at the Excellence Center, varying from super-intensive, intensive, and non-intensive to accommodate your language goals. Variety of Arabic Dialects Offered
The Excellence Center is delighted to provide a wide selection of Ammiyya Arabic dialects that one can learn. Whether you want to learn or improve your Arabic for work, business, traveling, religious reasons, or anything else, our Arabic courses will accommodate your language requirements.
There is often a big difference between the various Arabic dialects in the Arab world. Therefore, we recommend carefully selecting a dialect to study, particularly for first-time learners. For absolute beginners, we generally recommend Modern Standard Arabic or Jordanian Arabic (a dialect that can be understood in many Arabic-speaking countries).

Staying with a Jordanian Host Family
Furthermore, our Intensive Arabic programs offer the opportunity to stay with a Jordanian host family for additional language learning and full immersion in Arabic culture. This living arrangement is only guaranteed for female students, as a homestay for male students is subject to availability.
As such, we recommend applying to the program further in advance if you are interested in staying with a host family.

What is the Difference Between a Non-Intensive, Intensive, and Super-Intensive Course?
All Arabic courses are available in different intensities. The intensity of the Arabic course differs from the course level. The Ammiyya program intensity determines the frequency of classes, as well as their level of immersion and out-of-classroom coursework.
1. Non-Intensive Ammiyya Arabic Programs:
Most relaxed intensity available, meeting for a total of 12 lesson hours (45 minutes per lesson hour) per week, ~ about 3 hours of Arabic courses a day for 3 days a week. This intensity is designed to give students plenty of in-classroom immersion while also providing plenty of time to explore the city of Amman, Jordan! We recommend that students interested in a long-term program (anywhere from 1 – 3 months) enroll in a non-intensive Arabic course.
2. Intensive Ammiyya Arabic Programs:
Designed to further immerse students in the Arabic language and culture. These courses consist of 20 lesson hours a week, with about 4 teaching hours of Arabic language instruction per day, 5 days a week. Intensive Arabic courses will have additional homework and out-of-classroom assignments.
3. Super-Intensive Ammiyya Arabic Programs:
Designed for students who want a completely immersive, high-intensity classroom-oriented experience. Courses will include 30 lesson hours of language instruction per week, with 5 hours of language instruction per day, 5 days a week. We recommend Super-Intensive courses to those who are enrolled in shorter programs (1 – 4 weeks) because of the intensive course load.

Which Course Should I Enroll In?
To focus our teaching effectively, students with previous knowledge of Arabic are expected to take a placement test after submitting their application to assess their language level.
Students with no knowledge of Arabic will take a starter Arabic course. All our Arabic Immersion Programs incorporate all the foundational language skills: speaking, reading, writing, and listening.
What’s more, if you are having difficulty deciding which course to enroll in, the Excellence Center offers a free placement test, which will evaluate students’ Arabic language skills in 4 crucial areas: speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Can I Add More Arabic Hours to My Study Program?
Of course! Students in all our Ammiyya programs are free to add additional Arabic language hours. Each extra hour costs 25 euros. If you are interested in adding Arabic hours, please mention this in your email, as we would be more than happy to organize them for you!
