Volunteering with the Excellence Center allows you to engage with a diverse community, assist local Jordanian children and youth, and teach English in schools, community centers, and youth programs. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to study Jordanian Colloquial Arabic (Ammiya), enriching their cultural and linguistic experience throughout their stay.
This summer internship is designed for individuals seeking a short-term English teaching position while fully immersing themselves in Jordanian culture and daily life. Volunteers will teach community members aged 12 and above, either one-on-one, in small groups of 2–5, or in larger groups of 15–20, while gaining practical teaching experience and insight into local educational practices.

No Prior Experience in Teaching English

When is the Summer Teach English Program in Jordan 2026?
All volunteer teachers interested in teaching English in Jordan are welcome to join our summer program, which will run from June 15th to June 29th, 2026.
Where will I teach English in Jordan during the summer of 2026?
The Teach English in Jordan Summer 2026 program will take place in Amman, the capital city of Jordan, providing a vibrant and culturally rich environment for teaching and learning.
Where Will the Teaching of English Take Place?
Participants in the Summer Teach English Program in Jordan 2026 will teach English to Jordanian children, youth, women, and community members. Teaching will take place at the Excellence Center, youth centers in Amman’s neighborhoods, community development centers in surrounding areas, and local Jordanian organizations throughout the city.
Teaching English Certification
Although preferred, to teach English in Jordan, academic degrees (such as university teaching, college degrees, or English degrees) are not necessary. You are also not required to have any formal teaching certification, such as:
- ESL: English as a Second Language
- TEFL: Teaching English as a Foreign Language
- TESL: Teaching English as a Second Language
- TESOL: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
- CELTA: Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults
Who Comes to Teach English in Jordan?
At the Excellence Center, we are committed to inclusivity and international collaboration. Since launching our Teach English Summer Program in June 2011, over 1,000 interns and volunteers from countries including the USA, Germany, the UK, China, the Netherlands, Canada, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland have joined us. The program is ideal for:

Support is Available at the Excellence Center
To support you in your role, the Excellence Center provides English books and teaching materials for all levels, along with a comprehensive teaching manual. This manual offers practical guidance on teaching English to Jordanian students, including suggested activities and important cultural explanations.
Additionally, the school has a team of qualified Jordanian English teachers on staff who are available to support you and offer guidance whenever needed. You will also have access to a network of fellow volunteers, ready to provide tips, advice, and encouragement throughout your teaching experience in Jordan.
Accommodation
When residing in Amman, participants in the program will have the option of either staying with a host family (depending on availability) or in a cozy apartment. Both options offer unique advantages.
Whichever housing option the participant chooses, their time in Jordan will be immersive, enriching, and memorable!

We understand that traveling in Jordan is a major attraction for many of our volunteers, and we want you to make the most of your experience. Our volunteer programs in Amman are designed to provide a balance between your work, learning, and plenty of free time, allowing you to explore the rich culture, history, and natural beauty of Jordan at your own pace.
You are welcome to spend your days off exactly as you wish. Many of our volunteers take advantage of this time to organize trips together to nearby cities, historical sites, and natural wonders. Popular destinations include, but are not limited to, Petra, Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Jerash, Madaba, As-Salt, the Dead Sea, Irbid, and other fascinating locations across the country. Traveling around Jordan is relatively easy and affordable, and offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the country beyond Amman.
Indeed, you may be surprised at how quickly your schedule fills up and how fast time seems to fly while volunteering in Jordan! Between your volunteer work, cultural immersion, and travel adventures, every day offers new experiences, making your summer in Jordan truly unforgettable.
